Amazon is paying customers under a $2.5 billion FTC settlement. The claim deadline is Monday, July 27, 2026. Here is who should check—and exactly how to file.

Amazon is paying customers under a $2.5 billion FTC settlement. If you were signed up without meaning to—or tried to cancel online and could not—check now. Claims close Monday.

Check if this sounds like you:

You are a U.S. Amazon Prime customer.
The enrollment or failed cancellation happened between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025.
You did not already receive an automatic settlement payment.

What to do:

Open the official settlement site using the yellow button below.
Select “File Claim.” Confirm whether you were unintentionally enrolled or unsuccessfully tried to cancel.
Submit by July 27. You do not need to find old signup screens, count every Prime use, or provide purchase records—the administrator checks Amazon’s records.

No notice arrived? The official FAQ says you may still submit a claim if you believe you qualify.

Filing is free. The FTC says it will not contact you about this refund, and neither Amazon nor the administrator will ask for your Amazon password, Social Security number, or a fee.

What happened

The FTC accused Amazon of enrolling consumers in Prime without their knowledge or consent and making cancellation unnecessarily difficult. Amazon did not admit wrongdoing. Under the settlement, $1.5 billion is reserved for customer refunds and $1 billion is a civil penalty.

Some customers received automatic payments in late 2025. This deadline is for the separate claims process. Approved claims repay Prime membership fees up to $51; the amount is not guaranteed.

The bottom line

If you were unintentionally enrolled in Prime or tried to cancel online and could not during the covered period, do not assume a missing notice means you are out. Filing is free, takes place through the official administrator, and must be completed by July 27.
